Paediatric/Adolescent Urology
The sub-specialty of Pediatric Urology provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for urological diseases of children and adolescents. There is special emphasis on congenital and acquired diseases of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra as well as on tumors of the uro-genital tract. The most common conditions in boys are penile deformities (hypospadias, chordee, phimosis), hernia, hydrocele and undescended testis. Conditions that affect both genders are urinary tract infections, vesico-ureteral reflux, and urinary obstruction.
This subspecialty of Pediatric and Adolescent Urology is currently practiced by Colleagues who underwent a structured training (recognised Fellowship) under the guidance of the European Association of Urology and the National Health System Guidelines in collaboration with the Department of Health and of the Post-Graduate Deanery Assessement Committee. They huge gained experience in Pediatric Hospitals compared to our standard training which is exposure for 6 months only in the Department of Pediatric Urology of the Pediatric University Hospital of Athens - Ag. Sophia.
I would strongly recomend to contact one of them who has received recognised sub-specialty training, should your child needs consultation or operation.
